Can You Afford the Cancer Care Advances?

Medical and Pharmaceutical science is bringing us breakthrough advances in cancer care almost daily. The problem is that each advance costs more than the last, and your health insurance isn’t always going to cover it. One could conclude that, If you’re ever going to have cancer (and half of us are), plan to have it soon before it costs any more. One of the most promising categories of treatment is the oral targeted agents, or pills, taken in place of intravenous chemotherapy.  These pills are proving to be more effective, are accompanied by less negative side effects, and…..are not covered by the normal insurance plans with small out-of-pocket costs.

Women in Combat: Wrong for America

Last Thursday, January 24, 2013, was a sad day for America, although it seems that more people were celebrating than mourning. It was a day when politics trumped reason, when emotion trumped physical science, when liberalism trumped military readiness, and when the selfish nature of human kind trumped God’s fundamental order of life. For, on Thursday, the long-held and highly-honored premise that able bodied men must defend our women and children against the enemies of our nation became the latest victim of our crumbling cultural values.
